Hello all,

I hope this letter finds our department strong and healthy. I moved out to San Francisco following graduation in 2001, and began work at Hargreaves Associates (www.hargreaves.com) soon thereafter. I have been at Hargreaves for nearly 3.5 years now and they have thrown just about everything and the ‘kitchen sink’ at me. Beginning with the winning entry for Pena Boulevard at Denver International Airport Competition (vs. Field Op. & Schwartz), I have worked on several large scale projects such as the NYC 2012 Olympics w/Morphosis and the American Indian Cultural Center in Oklahoma City, OK with an increasing focus on culturally responsive landscape design.

I recently asked Jessica Li (class of 2000.5) to marry me and I am happy to say she accepted. We have set a date in September. While Jessica grew up in Sacramento, just down the road, and settled in immediately, I initially found San Francisco to be difficult to fit into as Cornell was the largest city (yes, really) in which I had ever lived. Over time this city has grown on me, and I am now happy to say that I have comfortably settled in and found my place in things and even a couple of good bagel shops. Several fellow alums are also in the city including Deni, Doug, ‘little’ Doug, Mary, Misako, and many others, so you only have to find one of us to hear what all the others are up to. This is my first one of these, so I hope it was a good read. I am always curious to hear how other Cornell LA alumni are doing so feel free to drop me a note at bjencek@hargreaves.com anytime.

Cheers,

BRIAN JENCEK, senior associate
