This Illustrative Planting Plan highlights the placement of the chosen specimens for the design of the landscape. This plan serves to illustrate the concept behind the key hole design, which our research found to be a much more sustainable solution than the traditional crop row method of food production. In the key hole method, crops that are frequently accessed are closer towards the center of the key hole, while those that need less maintenance, or are seldomly harvested, are further away from the center of the key hole. This plan for the landscape encompasses three keyholes so that the design is functional as well as aesthetic.
