Cornell University Solar Decathlon 2005
Landscape Architecture Branch

These pages are excerpts from the the Landscape SD book, ABC's of the Solar D.

The basic concept behind this portion of the landscape design is to contain the plants within the design of the system. Due to the design constraints of the placement of the exhibition site on the National Mall, the design of the landscape essentially becomes a rooftop garden. Since the bulk of the garden will be elevated, we have chosen a tray system to contain the soil and the plants within the context of the design. These trays have been donated by Green Grid corporation for the purpose of the competition. This plan illustrates the location, type and placement of the individual trays within the design.
